A pregnant schoolgirl has been told she will not be allowed to take part in her high school graduation because “she was immoral”.
Maryland teen Maddi Runkles, a straight A student, said she has been “shamed” by Heritage Academy since she told the Christian school she was pregnant.
According to the school’s website, it requires students to sign a pledge agreeing to protect their bodies by “abstaining from sexual immorality and from the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs”.
Because She Is Pregnant, She Won’t Be Able To Participate In Graduation
The reason? She broke the rules of an immorality pledge. The agreement she signed states students enrolled at the school will be “abstaining from sexual immorality and from the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.”
Maddi Holds A Sonogram Of Her Son
School administrator David Hobbs said it was out of the question “because she was immoral.”
When her parents told the school she was pregnant in January, they initially kicked her out. But after pleading with them to let her return, they agreed – but only if she was home schooled. Maddi was also stripped of her student council president title and kicked out of the Key club.
Maddi Said Other Students Had Broken The Pledge And Were Allowed To Participate
Although the school insists they did not ban her from graduation due to her pregnancy, Maddi and her family aren’t entirely convinced. “You can’t claim to be pro-life and be against the killing of babies, but then try to toss out the girl who decides to keep her baby just because the situation does not meet your standard,” she said.

Then school has since agreed to let her attend graduation and she will receive her diploma but they are standing their ground against her walking with her peers.
